Peter Montagnon
Director of Investment Affairs, Association of British Insurers

Peter Montagnon has been Director of Investment Affairs at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) since October 2000. The job involves representing the policy views of the insurance industry as major investors, with a focus on corporate governance, market development, regulatory and European issues.

As part of the ABI's corporate governance activity he is involved in facilitating dialogue between company boards and investors as well as working with the authorities on legislative and regulatory issues. He is also a member of the European Corporate Governance Forum, formed recently by the European Commission. Mr. Montagnon is also the current Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN).

He joined the ABI after two decades as a journalist on the Financial Times where he was successively Capital Markets Editor, World Trade Editor, Head of the Lex Column, which provides market comments, and Asia Editor. Between 1973 and 1980 he was a financial journalist with Reuters with assignments in Hong Kong, Zurich and Washington.

He has an MA in Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge, England.
